I understand that the athletic department is committed to philosophy, that student-athletes are primarily students, and that all student-athletes must demonstrate behaviours that demonstrate a commitment to maximizing academic success as their first priority. I understand that the athletics department has established the following standards, strategies and policies to maximize the opportunity for student-athletes to achieve their academic goals. I understand that I am obliged to respect these standards: the standard agreement above is an excerpt from a manuscript to be published in 2013: Lopiano, D.A. and Zotos, C. (Publication 2013) The Athletics Director`s Desk Reference. IL Champaign: Human Kinetics. Do not use without verification by your institutional legal advisor. I understand that a fulfilling educational sports experience requires the exercise of responsibilities on the part of both the staff associated with the athletics program and the student-athletes. As a student-athlete, I understand my responsibility to engage in the principles of self-discipline, cooperation and team building and to be the institution`s ambassador. I recognize that as a BU athlete, I also have a great responsibility. I recognize that I am one of the most visible students on campus and in the wider community, and that I am expected to be a respectful member of an intercollegiate team and in a manner consistent with Boston University`s values. Since drunk athletes are subject to high standards of conduct, I understand the need to exercise good judgment and behave at all times with honesty, integrity and respect for others. By signing below, I agree to behave in accordance with all the rules and requirements of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the sports conference in which my team participates and Boston University, including the Student Responsibility Code and my team`s rules.
I also agree that I understand that fitness and training programs to prepare for athletic performance, as designed and supervised by coaches and support staff (coaches, coaches, etc.), require intensive physical activities, constant feedback and the creation of benchmarks to maximize the potential and success of each athlete.
